Resources for Safe Sleep

Almost every single photo you will see of an adorable sleeping baby is in a very dangerous sleep environment. Think about that for a moment...

There are some very basic guidelines that parents can follow to reduce risk to their baby. Please check out the attached resources below from some really great sources.

The basics are:

  • On their back to sleep
  • Nothing fluffy in their space
  • No loose blankets
  • Firm surfaces only
  • No cracks between mattress and headboard or wall

(Note: most babies don't really like these guidelines and if you were to ask them and they could tell you about it, they would say they prefer to be held or right next to a grown-up that loves them. Many parents do not mean to bed-share but do so by accident. I want you to be ready for it if it happens.)

The research says:

  • No sofa or chair co-sleeping
  • No intoxicated adults sharing the bed
  • No second hand smoke
  • No heavy blankets or extra pillows during bed sharing

Bed sharing is normal and safe across many cultures. In the US it has been demonized. Here is an article that has some sweet stories about bed sharing.

Looking for a bassinet that is made in Seattle, totally green, and totally recyclable, and lightweight and easy to set up and take down? Yes, I mean a dream come true. I played a tiny role in the development and am SO happy I can finally share this product with you.
