Community Support Groups
Find your supports.
It's not easy being parents, and no one is meant to do it all by themselves. It's great to know where you can look to find peer support. If you join a group, keep in mind that there will be some people you connect with and some people you don't. That's okay, not everyone will like you either. Even if it feels uncomfortable, be bold and reach out to those who you do hit it off with. Exchange numbers, set up a date to go on a walk or take the babies to the park. The people you meet at this point in your life are going to be your new best friends. Having kids the same age bonds people. Make the most of your efforts!
Organic Community Building:
- Reach out to people on your online neighborhood groups such as Nextdoor, or Facebook.
- Connect with other co-workers you know are expecting too.
- Say hello and have a chat with the pregnant person you see everyday you walk your neighborhood. They are likely wondering when your due date is too!
- Strike up a convo with the person waiting at the prenatal appointment. Your chat will be less boring than the IG or news scroll you just saved them from.
